A failed Extreme Upgrade never sends your item back to level 0. You keep your progress and only need to repair the item.
Extreme Upgrade lets you push an item beyond its normal upgrade limit. Every Extreme level adds strong extra stats, which is why it is one of the most valuable upgrades in the game, and one of the most painful to lose.
How it works
Put the item and your Extreme Cores into the Extreme Upgrade window. The more cores you use and the higher their level, the better your chance of success. The window shows the exact chances before you confirm, so you always know what you are risking.
Every attempt uses up the cores and the Alz, whatever the result.
No more resets
Normally a failed attempt can reset the item to Extreme level 0 and all the work put into it is gone. On Pure Cabal this never happens. An attempt has only two possible results:
- Success: the Extreme level goes up by one.
- Broken: the item keeps its Extreme level, but becomes Broken.
The chance that used to belong to the reset now goes to Broken. Your chance of success is exactly the same as before, you simply can no longer lose your levels.
Repairing a broken item
A Broken item cannot be equipped or traded until you repair it with a Repair Kit:
- Gold Repair Kit: always repairs the item.
- Silver Repair Kit: 50% chance. If it fails, the item just stays Broken and you can try again.
- Bronze Repair Kit: 90% chance, but if it fails, the item is destroyed.
A repaired item keeps its Extreme level, so you continue right where you stopped.
Tip
Use a Gold or Silver Repair Kit on the items you care about most. The Bronze kit is the cheaper choice, but that small risk of losing the item is real.
